About the Artist
How did I get here?
Art was never on my list of goals. In fact, I had been told as a child to never think about art. My first art journey began and ended in middle school when my efforts were met by my art teacher with the comment, “Don’t ever plan doing more art. Your work is terrible.”
As I grew older, I became an art appreciator and enjoyed traveling to museums and art events. Then one day, when I was in my 50’s I walked by an art studio with a friend and said, “I have always wanted to draw. They offer lessons here. Let’s try this.” I walked in and signed up for four classes – and never looked back. I learned to really “see” my surroundings: the play of light and shadow, the contrasts of colors, the different hues of color, and so much more. This started my journey exploring many art mediums and styles. I am still trying new things.
